Microsoft Word

By being a fairly fast typer, I can type word processing documents in little time. I can also make a variety of things in Word, such as posters, resumes, resume covers, and of course reports and research papers.

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is an easy program to use once you know how it works. I know my way around Excel pretty well and can use it for a multitude of things. I can also use formulas to get the correct information needed for business.

Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access is a database engine. Upon entering information, it organizes it and makes it easier for you to find information. It is mostly useful for small businesses. I know how to enter and organize data in this program, as well as create organized reports from them. This program is something you should definitely have help with when learning how to work the program, such as a tutorial.

Microsoft Powerpoint vs. Google Docs

Which one to use depends on what you are using them for. If you want a quick and simple powerpoint, use Google Presentation. But if you're in business, you'd want to go with the more sophisticated Microsoft PowerPoint. If you're a student (like me) you'd opt for the Google Presentation since sharing and collaborating is free and easy. But again if you are in the business aspect, PowerPoint has a lot more customization and you can still share with your coworkers with Microsoft Exchange (for a price). Whether to use Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Presentation is really up to what you are using it for.

Math

I am currently in FAATS (Formal Advanced Algebra Trigonometry and Statistics) and have maintained an A throughout the quarters. Next year I plan to go into Pre Calculus then AP Calculus in my senior year. Below is a mid-unit quiz I recently took on conics.

Science

Right now I am at the end of taking Biology. We have learned everything from cell structure, populations and their environments, genetics, and evolution. I plan to further this course in my senior year by taking AP Biology. Below is a presentation (made on google docs) of the genetic disorder Alzheimer's Disease.

Orchestra

As of right now I've been playing the viola for five years for Pinckney's orchestra program. We've been competing every year at District Band and Orchestra Festival and we have received medals and a trophy every year. My friend and I recently played at District Solo and Ensemble as a duet, and got a one (the highest rating). This meant that we were eligible to go to State Solo and Ensemble, where we also got a one. Also for the past three years, the orchestra has been having a side-by-side concert with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Below are pictures of last year's performance.

Art

While Elements of Art is another required class, it is still very fun! I found out I had some skills I never knew I had, and all I had to do was experiment with a few ideas I had. Being in art class has been very inspirational and I want to further my explorations of art throughout the summer. Below are a couple of art projects I inked/painted this semester.
